The distinguished badge of a Mason

About

Hughes & Carter

At Hughes & Carter, we do not merely craft aprons. We create heirlooms — enduring symbols of Masonic devotion, worn with pride and passed down through generations.

Founded by two senior Freemasons who sought something far beyond the ordinary, Hughes & Carter was born out of the desire to honour the Craft with regalia worthy of its principles and purpose. Our regalia is not simply worn — it is experienced.

Each commission we accept is personal. Each apron we produce is handcrafted from the finest natural materials. Unlike other manufacturers, we use bullion and finest silk on our aprons to ensure that even the finest detail is the result of meticulous and thoughtful design. Just as a Savile Row suit sets a gentleman apart, a Hughes & Carter apron reflects the dignity, tradition, and personal legacy of its wearer.

Our Vision

We believe the Masonic apron is more than a badge of membership — it is the Badge of a Mason: a direct reflection of one’s values, honour, and lifelong commitment to the Craft.

This belief drives everything we do.

That is why we use only whole, naturally tanned lambskin hides sourced from trusted suppliers. It is why we cut every apron by hand, using traditional methods. And it is why we work closely with each Brother or Lodge to create something that is not only beautiful, but deeply meaningful.
Our ethos is simple: ritual deserves reverence.

“My appointment as Provincial Grand Master was the culmination of many years’ service… I wanted an apron that reflected my pride and position — not the cheapest, but the best. One that reflects the best in me.”
— Provincial Grand Master

Your Personal Emblem: Bespoke Design

A Full Spectrum of Masonic Essentials

Why Regalia Matters

Your Masonic journey has already taught you: the apron is not an accessory. It is the most important emblem of the Craft. It marks your progression, mirrors your virtues, and speaks silently of your integrity.

An apron should be worn with dignity and honour. Not because it is required, but because it is deserved.

The state of your apron is a reflection of your respect for the Craft. A loose badge, a frayed edge, or a coffee stain might seem trivial — but these are the signs of an item that has lost its meaning. Your regalia should always command respect, starting with your own.

Let your apron be a standard for your conduct, a daily reminder of who you are and what you aspire to be.
